Over A Cup Of Coffee

“The authorities were looking for anything that could hang you, actually. Which reminds me…” An unusually serious look crossed her face. “There have been… rumors… my friend. Rumors about you that concern me.”

“Information for information. You tell me the rumor, I’ll tell you the truth.”

She asked of several things, most of which were simply the rumor mill working in overtime. Until…

Trolling the Village

I entered the village as a troll. A mask of flesh and bone covered my face which I knew was painted a certain way. Pelts and hides of questionable origin draped over me the way Spanish moss drapes over branches. I looked like death and smelled twice as bad. Towering over men and horses, everyone fled from me. Which was okay with me. I wasn’t feeling sociable at the time anyway. A little kid ran towards me while everyone else was running away. He stopped in front of me. I stopped facing him.

“Hi.” ~grunt~

“My mommy said you’re going to eat me because she says I’m a bad boy and trolls eat bad kids. I really don’t taste good. I’m dirty and dirty food makes you sick.” I nodded while trying not to burst into laughter.

The Ribbon

The long white ribbon draped simply over a simple decorative hanger, that was hanging on the wall directly across from the door. Two hanzi characters were vertically embroidered with black silk onto the ribbon. The top character was oriented normally. The bottom character was upside down.

The Idolator and Three Poison Spirits

While I’m so happy to have finally finished these idols after a month and a half of work, I’m always sad and sorry to see them go.  I only ever take commissions of things I like to create, preferably feminine, flowery, lovely gods and spirits, so it’s always a little sad to see work I’d selfishly rather keep go to their true owners.  I’ve been …

The Weight of Sand

The police chief listened to his deputy continue to describe the scene. He had received the call an hour ago. Another ten children and two adults dead or dying. He didn’t tell the deputy he had snuck a sip of his own ‘patience’ on pulling up to the scene. It wasn’t just that the victims were suddenly dead. It was how they died.

They were turned to sand.

Visions of Gray

It’s gray. Everywhere I turn to look, I see the same color.  Not just gray..various shades of it. Dark, light, gray. Even the rock I sit on is gray. A soft whitish form, but still gray. It feels as if I have been pulled into a cloud of fog because there(…)

A Day At The Museum

“Excuse me, Ma’am?”

I looked up at a freckled face, framed by barely constrained red hair. I smiled disarmingly. It only made her more nervous. I nodded, subtly. The gesture caught her by surprise. She knew, that I knew, what she was about to ask. And she knew, that I had just given her explicit permission to continue.

“Are you a witch?”
