Poppy Goddess

Poppy goddess,

HERE

gentle muse of the eternal repose
she who moves dreamily
between sleep and silence
that which wanes in time
and that which ends utterly
pale, adoring luminary
at your breast we suckle

the milk of the fleshy orb
poppy goddess,
in our lingering lethargy
or passionate euphoria,
oh gentle final fate
of the garden of the gods
let slumber befall us,
oh kind red reaper

Poppy Goddess, Angelina Nelson-J, 2009
