Speaking in Smoke, or Spirit

A bubbling green ointment in an oven is stirring.  We through a pinch of living and dead rabbit hair- the living hair of my rabbit and craft-mate, Io and the hair of a rabbit dead, from one of the pelts we personally harvested.  Deeper than that; mugwort and rosemary, a bit of basil and broom, some Mt. St. Helen’s ash hand collected by the grandparents-in-law, and my personal herb who is never named.

Oracles and Bones

Finally completed my necromancy oracle set, an original concept and design, and so far I’m satisfied. I was inspired by…

Life as a Witch by the Sea

The idea of practicing your craft and the craft of the spirits down by the seashore with the wind blowing and the sea roaring is a very romantic notion, and for some(…)

Rootbabies and Care Packages

I’ve been so busy I haven’t really blogged in a little while, and for that, I am sorry. The family pea-patch has needed a ton of work; Andrew, his mother and I have been clearing land, picking out herbs, weeding (which I hate doing but I was overruled) tilling, spreading manure and removing bones and mole-corpses from the yard. I’ve been stripping bone of flesh, soaking those bones in the…

Witches of Our Dreams

Who were you role-models?  When you decided to become a witch or a magician, who did you emulate?  These are questions I am asked by family, friends and readers alike.  Who inspired me in my life as a witch?  I can think of many people, teachers,(…)

Scribbled Pages

I’ve been so busy over the last few weeks working on these two books and making arrangements for some of my fictional work.  I’m really worried about my deadline, but I think I’ll push through. Every day after work, I’m at the computer, typing as fast as I can, flipping through pages of research, talking with my main contacts across the country.  Writing is too time consuming, but I love every second of it.  I’d rather be…

Green Witchcraft and the Virid Road: Revisited

UNDER CONSTRUCTION April 24th, 2012: All of my articles are subject to information updates, editing and upgrading as time goes on. I make occasional editions to articles for three reasons: 1. because new information and updated knowledge must be shared freely among my peers. 2. I am constantly finding new ways to express my point of view that are more articulate and eloquent. 3. Many of my articles do not need a “part 2”, they only need updated information and regular editing for content. When articles are altered in any way, I repost them and inform my readers of the changes made. I retain all rights to alter my own work as I see fit. Regular posts are not updated or edited in any significant way. This article will be undergoing changes and additions in the next two weeks.(…)

Mistress of Euphorica, Mistress of Clay

The ravens are manifestly obedient to her service. In solemn, dignified array they come, like augurs of old times, to tell her the news of the day. The wolves slink by timidly, greeting her with furtive, sidelong looks. The bear (not so uncommon then)(…)

Necromancer’s Runes or Spirit Bones

Hmm, as The Fates would have it, the number is decidedly 11 instead of 13, for it has special meaning in the roots of hoodoo and in my spirit work. The holly is…
