Remembering the fallen

This weekend marks the 10th anniversary of one of the worst tragedies our country has ever experienced outside of war.  We all sat stunned in front of television sets, listened to radios, talked in whispers as we watched landmarks crumble in front of us, taking lives, shattering innocence, and reminding us that we are not […]

Busy bunnies

The Puyallup Fair has come… probably the most interesting or important thing that happens on this side of Washington lol.  Andrew and I are going to go some time in the next couple weeks for a date ^_^… we’ll probably wind up spending the entire time at the bunny show!  We are rabbit fanatics.

Other than that, not much going on- just a lot of work, doing a couple charms with/for my friends Amber and Vee.  Havin’ good time ^_^.  The rest of this …

Celtic Folk Magic: Food part 1

It’s pretty much common knowledge that I have a strong interest in folk magic, particulalry Irish and Celtic, although I also study other types like Pow-wow and Hoodoo (I’m not sure I’d categorize seidhr as folk magic). My interest is not purely academic; while I am interested in it from that perspective as well my main focus is learning how to use it, both the traditional material and creating new charms that are in the same spirit. I have found the Camrina Gadelica to be a treasure trove of Celtic …

The Crossroads

When one thinks of crossroads, a dirt road crossing out in the middle of Bum fuck Egypt comes to mind for a lot of people.  It has been said that many come to the crossroads looking for fame and fortune.  one of those legends was Robert Johnson, legendary bluesman from Mississippi, who it was told […]

Catching up…

So I have been offline now for a while thanks to hurricane Irene. We were very fortunate in that we didn’t lose power or water but our phone and internet were out. Being forcibly unplugged was a distinctly odd experience – I didn’t realize how much time I had been spending online, both with my college classwork and my random socializing. That is something I do want to address and cut down on…

A few of you brave souls were able to leave a comment after logging in with OpenID. The bulk of you curious folk, however, were not. Thank you very much for emailing me, and FB messaging me about the failure. As such, I’m removing the OpenID plugin until it is updated. If anyone knows a …

Remembered lessons

Yesterday I was just thinking things through, so went rummaging through my drawers in a little chest I have.  I opened first one, then another, smelling the oils and salts that I have stored there.  In the bottom drawer is where I keep my threads..Nothing major, embroidery skeins of various hues and colors.  I use […]

Tomorrow

“When will it open?”, asked the son. “Tomorrow.”, replied the mother. “But I want it to open today!”, demanded the son. “Not the right time.”, replied the mother. And the son was sent out to play. “When will it open all the way?”, asked the son. “Tomorrow.”, replied the mother. “But I want it to …

Moving On

Set off to pitch a fire, instead found a new home. The svartalf helped me find this place, but only after days of purgings and purifications at his insistence, and by his hand. The cave didn’t look like a natural formation to me, there were too many inconsistencies given the dark granite that formed it. …
